A. The goal here isn't only to develop world-class boxers. We are committed to providing the tools and support to help any athlete succeed at a top level, regardless of his or her chosen sport, be it boxing, mma, football, basketball, baseball, or general fitness. Being a successful athlete requires good physical conditioning, balance, coordination, toughness, sharp reflexes, discipline, and confidence, all of which (and more) can be developed through our excellent training programs. In addition, mixed martial artists are becoming increasingly aware that having exceptional striking skills and footwork will carry one a long way in the sport. Rocky's provides a valuable service to those seeking to improve such skills.
Q. How often can members use the gym?
A. Members are allowed to use the gym anytime they wish, and for as long as they like during open hours.
Q. What equipment do I need to bring?
A. Comfortable workout clothes and shoes and a pair of boxing handwraps are usually all you need. While the gym provides free access to equipment such as gloves, jump ropes, and exercise mats, members are free (and encouraged) to bring their own. Mouthguards are required for those members wishing to spar.
Q. Do I have to fight or spar?
A. Nope. There is no such requirement. You spar only if you want to, and have demonstrated the knowledge and skills necessary to do so.
Q. Can females join?
A. Of course! The gym is open to anyone eight years old and up.
Q. I haven't exercised in years; will the training be too challenging for me?
A. Training is based on the individual's level of fitness and skill. You set the pace. The trainer's job is to instruct and motivate, not force you to go harder than you wish to go.
Q. Can boxing training help me lose weight?
A. Boxing training can help you get in the best shape of your life, it's as simple as that.
